About Us
Our story, values, and the people behind wildflower-venture
How We Started
In 2019, two Edinburgh-based educators noticed a troubling pattern. Bright, capable young people were leaving school without understanding how to budget, why saving matters, or how interest works. These weren't academic failures; the system simply wasn't teaching financial literacy.
The UK curriculum touches on mathematics and economics, but practical money management rarely gets dedicated attention. Children learn about the Industrial Revolution but not about compound interest. They study algebra but not budgeting.
We created wildflower-venture to fill that gap. What started as weekend workshops in a borrowed community hall has grown into a respected educational practice serving hundreds of Edinburgh families and partnering with schools across the region.
Our Educational Philosophy
We believe financial education should be practical, engaging, and age-appropriate. Lecturing children about compound interest doesn't work. But giving them a real savings goal and helping them track progress toward it does.
"Children remember what they experience. Abstract concepts become concrete through simulation, play, and real-world application."
Every programme we design starts with a question: how can we make this concept tangible? If we're teaching about opportunity cost, students might manage a limited budget in a simulation game. If we're explaining inflation, we might show how sweet prices have changed over decades.
Our Values
Practical Learning
Every concept we teach connects to real-life application. Theory without practice is quickly forgotten.
Long-term Thinking
We're not preparing children for next week's pocket money decision. We're building habits for a lifetime.
Family Involvement
Parents receive progress updates and conversation starters. Financial education works best when reinforced at home.
Inclusive Access
We offer subsidised places and school partnerships to ensure financial education isn't limited to those who can afford it.
